A youth who pleaded guilty to having unlawful sex with his then 14 year old girlfriend was yesterday given a two year suspended prison sentence by Judge Patrick Moran at Cork Circuit Criminal Court.
The youth, who is now 18 and cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to five sample charges of unlawful carnal knowledge of the girl over nine months in 1995. Mr Patrick McCarthy, for the State, said the girl had consented but it was not an informed consent.
Judge Moran suspended the two year jail term on each of the five charges on condition he keep the peace for two years.
