A security alert is under way in Dublin, following the discovery of a suspect device in a business premises in the city centre a short time ago.

Staff at Eason's book shop on O'Connell Street alerted the gardaí when a suspicious object was discovered  this afternoon.

The Army Bomb Disposal Unit has been called to the scene.

The building has been evacuated and the area has been sealed off while the device is being dealt with.

There is no disruption to traffic or other business in the area.
