An 88-year-old woman died from natural causes, which were complicated by the hospital superbug Clostridium difficile(C Diff), an inquest heard yesterday.

Harriett Delaney of Monastery, Enniskerry, Co Wicklow died at Loughlinstown hospital last January. Her inquest was held at Dublin County Coroner’s Court. She was admitted to the hospital in November 2008 for a respiratory infection. In December she tested positive for the superbug. A verdict of natural death complicated by C Diff was given.
