The death toll in a suicide bombing on the northern outskirts of Baghdad today reached 11, including five children and six neighbourhood patrol volunteers, an Interior Ministry source said.

The source said the attack was a suicide car bomb, which hit a neighbourhood patrol checkpoint near a school.

Seven patrol volunteers were wounded.

Earlier, police had said the attacker detonated a vest packed with explosives.
