Nearly 300 people have made submissions to the Government appointed Commission on the Family on such issues as childcare provision, the impact of drug abuse and changes in the tax and social welfare codes to assist newly married couples.

The commission chairman, Dr Michael Dunne, said yesterday the deadline for submissions has been extended to May 15th. Anyone wishing to state their views should address them to The Secretary, Commission on the Family, PO Box 5078, Dublin 2.
