Schoolchildren took a walk into Dublin's Viking history yesterday when they visited an archaeological dig in Temple Bar. Excavations of Viking artefacts behind St Michael and St John's Church will continue for six months.

The Minister for the Environment, Mr Howlin, and fifth and sixth class pupils from St Audeon's School became the first official visitors to the dig.
