Recruitment company CPL Resources has announced strong profits and sales growth for the half year to the end of December 2004.

Pretax profits totalled €2.4 milion, up from €941,000 boosted by strong performance in all of CPL's businesses.

EPS rose to 5.5 cent from 2.1 cent, and turnover grew to €7.1 million at the end of December from 5.3 million.

Costs rose by 37 per cent during the period, reflecting the growth in the business, but the ratio of costs to net fee income improved.

CPL said surplus capacity within its cost base will enable it to increase business activity without a proportionate rise in overheads.

The company is paying an interim dividend of 0.8 cent.
