Belfast city-centre store owners carried out checks on their property yesterday after three businesses were damaged, two of them extensively, in early-morning firebomb attacks, writes Gerry Moriarty.

The Shirt Centre in Donegall Square West near Belfast City Hall and the Army and Navy Surplus Store in nearby Smithfield were badly damaged in the incendiary attacks. White's pub at Crown Entry was slightly damaged. Police warned all city-centre business owners to check their stores for other firebombs.
