The white Honda Civic had been pursued by an off-duty garda and the garda helicopter.

The incident happened at 8am as a crowded Tallaght/Connolly line tram passed near the Blackhorse stop.

A Garda spokeswoman said the car's three occupants had been arrested and taken to Sundrive Road garda station. There are no reports of any injuries and the line was undamaged.

A spokeswoman for the tram company, Connex, said services were delayed by 30 minutes in both directions but services had returned to normal following the removal of the car.
