Some 230 SIPTU workers at the Irish Ispat steel plant in Cork Harbour returned to work last night after they voted to end a three-day unofficial stoppage. A majority of workers voted by a show of hands to end the unofficial stoppage, and returned to work at 7 p.m.

SIPTU's 230 members at the Haulbowline plant - formerly Irish Steel - downed tools on Monday after middle management allegedly started to do the work of two workers who had been suspended over a disciplinary matter.
