A MEMORIAL to the victims of institutional abuse, which will cost €500,000, should be shelved until more pressing matters to do with the Ryan report are dealt with,according to an abuse victim and campaigner.

Michael O'Brien, of the Right to Peace group, said the money could be spent better.

"What our members want is proper redress and proper counselling," he said, adding money should go to those who ended up on the streets of London due to abuse.
