About 250 staff at the Department of Enterprise and Employment in Dublin were evacuated on to Kildare Street yesterday when smoke began to circulate in the building from ventilation ducts. It emerged later that renovation work in the basement of the building had led to dust in pipes catching fire which was extinguished quickly. Staff were allowed back in 45 minutes later.
