The Fianna Fail spokesman on prisoners affairs, Mr Eamon O Cuiv, has called for a speeding up of the transfer to Ireland of "politically motivated prisoners" held in British jails.

In a report to the party leader, Mr Bertie Ahern, on a recent visit to British jails, Mr O Cuiv said the mood among prisoners was not as positive as during the IRA ceasefire.
