Spanish film festival starts in Dublin

The annual Spanish Film Festival, which opens today, will showcase work from Spain, Mexico, Argentina and Uruguay.

The annual Spanish Film Festival, which opens today, will showcase work from Spain, Mexico, Argentina and Uruguay.

This year's event at the Irish Film Institute sees new releases from award-winning directors including actor Antonio Banderas.

Spanish director Felix Viscarret will visit Dublin to promote his film, Bajo Las Estrellas (Under The Stars).

Other filmmakers featured include Gael Garcia Bernal, Iciar Bollain, Julio Medem, Jaime Rosales and Juan Antonio Bayona.

The festival, which runs until March 30th, is supported by the Instituto Cervantes and the Embassy of Spain in Ireland.

A selection of films will also be screened in the EYE Cinema in Galway next week.
