PROFESSIONAL and technical staff at the Chief State Solicitor's Office have lifted their work to rule for a week, writes Padraig Yeates. They have taken their decision after management made proposals to address long running staffing problems at the office.
IMPACT assistant general secretary, Mr David Hughes, said the suspension was a demonstration of goodwill during talks due to begin with the Department of Finance today. Solicitors and legal clerks started their work to rule last week. It was beginning to affect the preparation of cases for the courts.
The talks are expected to conclude by Thursday. If there is no satisfactory outcome, the work to rule will resume next Monday.
