London - Soldiers at Britain's largest military base are being offered AIDS tests after at least two local women carrying the HIV virus were deemed to have been "liberal with their affections".

British army sources at the Catterick base in Yorkshire, northern England, said yesterday that a memo had been circulated at the base strongly advising soldiers who had had casual sex with local women to seek medical advice.
