JOHANNESBURG - A soldier was trampled to death when a herd of some 70 elephants rampaged through a camp in a South African wildlife park, an official said yesterday

A military spokeswoman, Lieut-Col Hester Boshoff, said about 10 soldiers patrolling the eastern border of the Kruger National Park had set up a temporary tented camp in the bush. "The herd of about 70 elephants for some or other reason stormed the tents," she said.
