A soldier appeared in court today charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm.

A soldier appeared in court today charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm.

Belfast Crown Court heard Mr John Oliver Devoti (20) allegedly beat a man so hard during an incident in Belfast city centre last month that he broke his spine.

The accused, whose address was given as Palace Barracks in Holywood, Co Down, was remanded in custody until December 16th.
