A specially trained Garda Siochana sniffer-dog recovered two packages which the accused is alleged to have dropped into long grass near the River Liffey, the jury in a drugs trial has been told.

Mr John Kelly (42), Belfry, Inchicore, Co Dublin, has pleaded not guilty of possessing the cannabis resin for sale and supply at Liffey Valley Park on May 12th, 1997.

The prosecution said cannabis valued £120,000 was recovered in two areas of Liffey Valley Park in follow-up searches after Mr Kelly and another man who was not charged were apprehended.

The hearing continues before Judge Frank O'Donnell.
