A  baby girl snatched from her mother in a car park in the Australian city of Melbourne has been found safe and well.

A member of the public called police after hearing crying coming from a derelict house early this morning.

Police confirmed that the baby was three-week-old Montana Barbaro, who had been snatched from her mother by a couple yesterday.

Her mother, Ms Anita  Ciancio (27) was loading shopping into her car in an underground car park when the attack happened. Her baby was already strapped into the car seat.

Ms Ciancio says a man and woman in their 30s attacked her, spraying pepper spray in her face before knocking her to the ground.

They snatched the child and drove off in another car.

A motive for the attack is unknown.
