A snake has been found at the Guinness brewery in Dublin city centre.

The Dublin branch of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (DSPCA) was called out  after it was discovered in a crate that was delivered to the brewery from Texas yesterday.

The snake, which has been nicknamed JR due to its Texan origins, was subsequently taken to àn expert who confirmed that it was a non-poisonous corn snake.

JR is expected to stay for a while at the Bairbre O'Malley Veterinary hospital in Bray, Co Wicklow as it is suffering from dehydration after its long-distance trip to Ireland.
