BRATISLAVA - The Slovak Foreign Minister, Mr Pavol Hamzik, resigned yesterday, a senior foreign ministry official said.

BRATISLAVA - The Slovak Foreign Minister, Mr Pavol Hamzik, resigned yesterday, a senior foreign ministry official said.

The minister's decision came after a weekend referendum widely boycotted by the population and declared void by the Central Referendum Committee, which had been seen in the West as a key test of democracy in Slovakia.
