Sixteen Irish tourists hurt in French bus crash

A bus carrying 48 Irish passengers rolled onto the roadside in southern France today.

Sixteen Irish passengers were slightly injured when the bus, from a French transport company, rolled on a road in the Haute-Garonne region south of Toulouse.

Some 40 rescue workers dealt with the crash  and evacuated the 16 injured to two Toulouse hospitals. The uninjured flew from Toulouse airport home while the injured returned home a few hours later.

The passengers on the bus were aged from six to 50, officials said.

An investigation into the crash has begun.
