New York - Europe's six top insurance companies reached a settlement with Holocaust survivors or victims' heirs for compensation for unpaid claims, the World Jewish Council announced here yesterday.

The companies are Axa (France,) Allianz (Germany,) Winterthur, Zurich and Baloise (Switzerland.) and Generali (Italy), Mr Elan Steinberg, executive director of the WJC said.
