Six men were injured today when a prison van was involved in a collision with a car in Co Laois.
The van, which was bringing a prisoner from Tullamore to Portlaoise prison, was involved in a head-on crash outside Mountmellick at about 11am.
Four gardaí, a prison officer and a prisoner were slightly injured.
The incident has been referred to the Garda Ombudsman.
