In Co Kildare five men were arrested following the discovery of 15ks of heroin at a house in the Robertstown area.

Units from the Organised Crime and Naas Detective divisions arrested four of the men at the scene while the other was detained as part of a follow up search.

A Garda spokesman said the seizure has a potential street value of in excess of €2 million.

The men are being held under section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act at Naas, Newbridge, Kildare and Lucan Garda stations.

Elsewhere, gardaí in Dublin are continuing to question a man following the seizure of 1.1 tonnes of cannabis resin during a joint Garda and Customs operation at an industrial premises in Dunboyne, Co Meath last night.

This seizure, subject to analysis, has an estimated street value of €6.6 million.

The man in his 30s was arrested close to the scene and is being held at Blanchardstown Garda station also under Section 2 of the Drug trafficking Act.
