Singapore - Singapore told the elderly and those with heart or respiratory disease to reduce exertion yesterday, as smog produced by brush and forest fires in Indonesia sent air quality into the unhealthy range again.

The smog had pushed up the Pollutants Standard Index to 111, the Ministry of Environment said. Like much of southeast Asia, Singapore has been subject to frequent bouts of smoky haze since August, with the sun a rare sight. Levels of 101 or more are considered unhealthy.
