The space shuttle Discovery has left the International Space Station to end a nine-day visit that included three spacewalks and repairs key to resuming construction of the $100 billion space outpost.
After astronauts closed the hatch between the two spacecraft, Discovery departed from the station and slowly pulled away in the first steps of the shuttle's planned return to Earth on Monday.
