The RUC constable seriously wounded in an IRA gun attack in the centre of Derry earlier this year yesterday made her first public appearance since she was shot. Constable Alice Collins, a mother of three, was shot by an IRA sniper outside Derry's courthouse in Bishop Street on April 10th.

Yesterday she had a brief meeting with Princess Anne, who opened a new RUC base at Maydown on the outskirts of Derry. Constable Collins is still recovering from the gunshot wound to her chest.
