Shoes used in landmine protest

LONDON - A group of British charities erected a mountain of shoes in Trafalgar Square, London yesterday to protest at the 26,000 people killed or maimed every year by anti personnel mines. The charities called for a total ban on the use of such devices, estimated to number some 100 million worldwide.
