Ponta Delgada - Rescuers airlifted to safety yesterday all 34 crew members of a Panamanian container ship which was torn in two by fierce storms off the mid-Atlantic Azores Islands. Nineteen crew members were making their way to Ponta Delgada, capital of the Azores, while 15 had been flown to the Lajes air base on the archipelago.
