Shannon Airport is on course for a record year with indications that passenger traffic at the airport will top the highest level of 1,700,000 set in 1993.

The forecast was made by the Aer Rianta general manager at Shannon, Mr Barry O'Shea, who reported that for the first three months of the year passenger figures at the airport were up 26 per cent on the corresponding period last year.
