SF welcomes Turkish ceasefire

The Sinn Fein chairman, Mr Mitchel McLaughlin, has welcomed the ceasefire called by the PKK - the Kurdistan Workers Party - in Turkish Kurdistan. "We hope the Turkish government will give it thoughtful and mature consideration. The conflict in Turkish Kurdistan has lasted for 14 years and caused the death of 50,000 people. It is surely time to seek a political solution," he said.
