A Sinn Fein district councillor for Cookstown, Co Tyrone, claimed last night he was handcuffed to railings in Pomeroyby the RUC yesterday when he joined some 50 local people in opposing an Orange parade through the village.

Mr Sean Begley said the parade was forced through the predominantly nationalist village by the RUC, who had assaulted local people sitting in the middle of the road.
