The chairman of Sinn Fein in Northern Ireland, Mr Gerry O hEara, yesterday expressed condolences on Princess Diana's death.
"This is a tragic event," he said in a statement. "It is a great personal tragedy for the families and friends of those who were killed and injured, and a devastating blow for the people of Britain. I extend our deepest sympathies at this difficult time."
