BIRMINGHAM – Detectives investigating the murders of three men who were hit by a car while protecting shops and homes from looters have been given an extra 24 hours to question a man arrested on suspicion of murder.

Haroon Jahan (21) and brothers Shazad Ali (30) and Abdul Musavir (31) were killed by a car in the early hours of August 10th. They were all pronounced dead in hospital.

A man (30) arrested on suspicion of murder at about 10am yesterday is being detained for a further 24 hours after officers were granted extra time to question him by Birmingham magistrates’ court, West Midlands Police said.

Officers have been given until just after 10pm tonight to question the man, who is the seventh person arrested by detectives investigating the murders of the three friends. – (PA)
