Seven men have been arrested in a Garda operation targeting organised crime in Leinster.

Seven men have been arrested in a Garda operation targeting organised crime in Leinster.

The seven men - all Lithuanian and in their 30s - were arrested in Clondalkin, west Dublin yesterday afternoon during a search by gardaí.

Five cars, a motorcycle, three handguns and other stolen property were uncovered in the raid, which was part of an investigation into car crime and extortion.

Gardaí are investigating whether the vehicles were stolen from locations in Carlow, Westmeath and Louth.

The seven men are being held under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act at Clondalkin and other Garda stations. They can be held for up to 72 hours.
