Gardaí in Drogheda, Co Louth are investigating an allegation of a serious sexual assault in the town early this morning.
A Garda spokesman said a woman in her early 20s reported the alleged incident at 6 a.m. in Drogheda Garda Station.
The Backlanes area of the town was sealed and forensically examined, the spokesman added. Businesses in the town centre have been asked to provide Gardaí with CCTV footage.
He said gardaí had made no arrests and investigations were at an early stage. The woman is not believed to be from the Drogheda area.
