Separatists block Alpine roads

CHAMBERY - Protesters demanding independence for the French Alpine region of Savoie disrupted traffic near the Mont Blanc tunnel yesterday, police said. They were answering a call by the Ligue Savoisienne, which believes a treaty signed in Turin in 1860 giving Savoie to France is invalid.
