British Nuclear Fuels Ltd has withdrawn a request to the British Environment Agency seeking to increase the aerial discharge limit at its Thorp reprocessing plant. The company said that because of "further improvements in gaseous clean-up systems", and recent operational advancements, the increase will not be required.

However, the company's demand for an increase in the total aerial discharge limit for the Sellafield power plant remains.
