A security guard died following a firearms incident at an army barracks, the British Ministry of Defence (MoD) said today.
No one else was involved in the shooting, which the MoD has described as accidental, at the Moscow Camp on the Airport Road, in east Belfast.
It is understood the man died in hospital from his injuries.
The spokesman said army and MoD investigations into the shooting were under way.
