An area of Belfast has been cordoned off following reports of an explosion near a Territorial Army base this morning.

An area of Belfast has been cordoned off following reports of an explosion near a Territorial Army base this morning.

A PSNI spokeswoman said the Ashfield Crescent area on the Antrim Road in the north of the city has been closed and bomb disposal experts are at the scene.

Police found a suspicious object when investigating the area following the reports of an explosion during the early hours of the morning.

There are no reports of any injuries or damage.
