The publication of a report on the first module inquiring into certain garda activities in Donegal by Mr Justice Frederick Morris has led to the resignation of a second senior garda.

Supt John P O'Connor's retirement from the force was confirmed late last night following a meeting earlier yesterday with the Garda Commissioner, Mr Noel Conroy. He will officially leave the force on
September 1st.

Chief Supt Denis Fitzpatrick, has also announced his early retirement from the force after he was criticised in the Morris report. He was Border superintendent in Donegal in the early 1990s.

Supt O'Connor was found to have attempted to reduce  his role in the events in Donegal when giving evidence to the tribunal and the report deemed this disingenuous.
