A new charge of unlawful possession of a shotgun was brought yesterday against a man accused of involvement in a shooting incident in Finglas, Dublin, last year.

Mr John Kerrigan (28), Castlerosse, Castletown Road, Dundalk, Co Louth, was initially charged with assault, causing serious harm to a man outside a Travellers' camp on Dunsink Lane on September 21st last year.

Det Sgt Andy O'Rourke said a new charge of unlawful possession of a shotgun on the same date was brought against Mr Kerrigan yesterday. He made no reply after he was charged.

He was remanded on bail to May 25th.
