A search was being conducted last night for a Co Clare farmer who went missing on Canon Island in the Shannon Estuary after he went to check on cattle yesterday morning.
A Marine Rescue Service helicopter and the Kilrush RNLI inshore lifeboat were searching for the man after locals at Kiladysert raised the alarm yesterday evening. His boat was found at the uninhabited island's pier.
