Boat owners along the Shannon have joined farmers and local people in the search for a Co Leitrim woman missing since Monday.

Marie Heeran (47), who left her home in the family car last Monday, is a diabetic who may not have her medication with her, gardaí believe.

She was seen on Monday in Dromod and Rooskey. Dozens of friends and relatives have joined in a search along the Shannon in this area. A helicopter and local sub aqua teams are also at the scene.

Ms Heeran was driving a red Nissan Primera, registration 96 DL 722. Gardaí have appealed to anyone with information to contact Carrick-on-Shannon Garda station (071-9620021).
