A search resumed in the North this morning after reports of a body in in Strangford Lough.

The alarm was raised last night when a caller rang police and said a body was spotted in the Co Down lake.

An initial search by coastguards, the PSNI helicopter and a lifeboat from Portaferry on the coast failed to discover anything.

The search is being centred around Kilcleif Castle near the village of Strangford, close to the mouth of the lake.

There are unconfirmed reports that a lifeboat volunteer found a torch on rocks close to the castle.
