Irish seafood exports to Spain rose by 15 per cent in 1994 to 16,636 tonnes, worth £38.4 million, according to Bord Iascaigh Mhara, the Irish sea fisheries board. Spain is now Ireland's second largest market after France, where sales were worth £47 million in the same year.

BIM has opened an office in Barcelona and is taking part in Alimentaria, Spain's international seafood exhibition, this week.
