The Bishop's Palace in Kilkenny is to be transferred to the Heritage Council following a meeting of the Church of Ireland Representative Body, Alison Healy writes.
The decision has generated major controversy in the diocese of Ferns and Cashel and Ossory. Those against the plan claim it can be challenged on legal grounds and have vowed to fight the decision. A synod of Cashel, Ossory, Leighlin, Lismore and Waterford dioceses is being held next Thursday to discuss the issue.
