A Spanish fisherman was air lifted by helicopter from La Mariea, an Irish registered Spanish trawler, after being taken ill yesterday afternoon The trawler was about 60 miles off Belmullet, Co Mayo, when the evacuation took place.
He was taken by air to Carrickfinn, Co Donegal, and then by ambulance to Letterkenny District Hospital. The man was in a stable condition last night, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
